Meeting Reflection

Ahmed, Mana'a, Khaled and I conducted a meeting on the 17th of october dedicated to discussing the issue of the water crisis taking place in Yemen. Our objective was to come up with various solutions we think might help minimize the issue. At first, Mana'a began with the introduction, afterwards each one of us talked about the solution that we thought of. Khaled went first and discussed foreign intervention. I personally concur with that idea because of the desperate situation going on in Yemen, one of his suggestions was to import healthy drinking water for the population especially from the UAE. Mr. Hedley did not agree with the suggestion that foreigners come and help since Yemen is not safe and there are not as much one can benifit from there, life would be really hard. And then Ahmed went next and mentioned reducing the production of gat, this suggestion was too farfetched, I believe it's going to be highly unlikely that we are going to be able to break the Yemen tradition, we cannot persuade the Yemen population to do that. And in my turn, I talked about water desalination. I am pretty certain that this is the only best solution for this issue, despite the fact that it will be expensive to built water desalination plants and pipelines, but setting the financial issues aside, it's the easiest way that has long-term positive results. Finally Mana'a talked a lot about raising awareness amongst Yemenis and the globe for this issue, I believe that's a good idea, and that this is a desperate issue that needs to have more attention than what the people generally give. Overall, I thought the meeting went quite well, we shared so much and thought of great solutions. I was very comfortable and I enjoyed it very much.
